The Odisha government founded National Law University Odisha (or “NLU Odisha”) in 2008 with the goal of advancing the social justice mission of legal education by becoming a center of excellence in legal education, establishing itself as a hub for professional learning, and fostering the concept of “serviceability” among the populace. In support of this, the Legal Aid Society of NLU Odisha was founded in 2012 with the goal of carrying out the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987’s purpose.
About the Centre
The National Law University of Odisha’s Center for Women & Law (CWL) is a research center that is run by teachers and students working together. The Center was founded to provide a forum for the ongoing, multidisciplinary investigation of the structural, sociological, legal, and regulatory concerns related to gender.
About the Seminar
The goal of the conference is to provide a better knowledge of the socioeconomic effects and difficulties that women in India’s unorganized sector confront. The participants will identify feasible improvements to improve women’s rights and safeguards by critically analyzing policy frameworks. The seminar’s goal is to inspire stakeholders to take collective action and drive good change for women working in the unorganized sector by encouraging cooperation and advocacy.
The result is a road map for women’s empowerment, enhanced access to social security and economic possibilities, and general well-being. The lecture is intended for women who are employed in a variety of unorganized sector roles, with an emphasis on the selected area.
This include women who work from home, gig workers, platform-based economy participants (such as those who offer home-based beauty services), workers in the household industry, and casual

Call for Research Papers
Researchers, academicians, students, practitioners, social workers, and women activists are invited to submit research papers based on original research or review papers pertaining to the seminar’s issue to the Center for Women and Law, National Law University, Odisha. “Women in the Unorganized Sector: Social, Economic, and Policy Perspectives” is the seminar’s overarching theme. The best paper submitted will receive an appreciation certificate based on both the paper’s quality and presentation.

- September 25, 2024: Notification date for selected papers

Registration Procedure
Kindly fill the google form for registering.
Attending the seminar and presenting a paper do not require registration. A certificate of participation will also be given to each participant, acknowledging their dedication to discussing important social issues.
